Deborah E. Bensch

Deborah (Debbie) Bensch is a supervising attorney at Hoglund, Chwialkowski, and Mrozik, PLLC practicing exclusively in the area of social security disability.  She has been with the firm since October 2011 and primarily attends hearings in Ohio and Michigan.  Debbie’s experience in social security disability allows her to proactively represent her clients in their hearings.  She thoroughly represents her clients and provides a unique examination individualized for each client.  Her experience in the region has permitted her to be familiar with the numerous judges in the area, which allows for a seamless hearing.

Prior to coming to Hoglund Law, Debbie worked for Advocates for Basic Legal Equality (ABLE) in Toledo, Ohio as an AmeriCorp attorney.  During her time there, she focused on immigration, employment, and housing law.  She successfully argued a wage dispute in the United States District Court of Northern Ohio.  In addition, several clients were granted legal status under the Violence Against Women’s Act (VAWA) and U-Visa; she also presented an asylum case in front of the Immigration Court where the administrative law judge granted asylum for this client.

Following her time at ABLE, Debbie was a solo practioner working in general law with a focus on family and immigration law and was also a public defender in the juvenile division for Lucas County.  At that time, Debbie also advocated for children as a guardian ad litem.

Debbie returned to legal aid in Las Vegas, Nevada at Legal Aid Center for Southern Nevada.  While practicing there, she primarily dedicated herself to family and immigration law.  Again, she helped clients with VAWA claims and parents in custody disputes.

Debbie received her undergraduate degree from the University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations in May 2003.  Following her undergraduate studies, she attended law school at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois graduating in May 2006.  Debbie is licensed in Ohio and Michigan.
