Social Security Disability
Charles A. Sagert
Charles received an undergraduate degree in environmental science from Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa. He worked in land conservation in northwest Wisconsin for a year before entering William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. He still has a passion for the environment and spends much of his free time outdoors.
In Law school Charles made it a point to take a wide variety of courses. He had internships at The Nature Conservancy doing document review and at the Ramsey County Public Defender’s office as a student attorney. In his second year of law school he began working in the social security intake department at Hoglund Law. After passing the Bar exam he worked as a bankruptcy attorney before returning to the social security department as an attorney in September 2014.
In March 2015 Charles began representing clients in their Disability hearings. He has since appeared in hundreds of hearings and written hundreds of briefs. Most of his hearings are in the upper-Midwest but he has represented clients in disability hearings in 29 states. This has given him experience with many different Administrative Law Judges with varying policies. He has also developed a strong ability to parse through medical records in order to assess the disability-related medical evidence.
Charles feels honored to have the opportunity to help people in difficult times and work with the vast body of law that applies to Social Security Disability. He understands that an important part of his work is to communicate with clients and help them understand the complex process they are involved in. He feels lucky to be at Hoglund Law where he has access to resources and staff that allow him to work efficiently, as well as knowledgeable and experienced colleagues that help him improve. He is more than happy to discuss Social Security Disability questions via phone call, email or office meeting.
